Who are the national poets and other cultural saints of European literary cultures? When, why, and how were they canonized? Click on the map<\/a> and take a look at the questionnaires filled in by experts on individual literary cultures!<\/em><\/p>\n

The list of literary cultures is taken from the partner project Encyclopedia of Romantic Nationalism in Europe (ERNiE<\/a>). Added is the Montenegrin literary culture; omitted are several smaller cultures and larger formations (e.g., the Pan-Slavic, Pan-Latin, and Scandinavian) where the phenomenon of cultural saints was less distinctive. The records are not yet complete. You can check out the sample questionnaire<\/a>.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
